Requirements


Description
A concentration in English will provide students with preparation for any profession requiring strong analytical and communication skills, including careers in: publishing, public relations, nonprofit organizations, professional and technical writing, education, business, banking, grassroots activism, law, medicine, as well as numerous others throughout industry and government. The concentration in English is delivered entirely online.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • A minimum 12 upper division hours must be taken in courses offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Core - 9 credit hours

ENG 211 Introduction to English Studies (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 305 Interpretive Theory (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 308 Form and History/Culture (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 309 Rhetoric for Writers (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 327 English Studies Research (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 489 Scholarly Products (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better; minimum 87 hours)

English Upper Division - 6 credit hours

Any ENG 300 or ENG 400 level courses.

English Electives - 3 credit hours

Any ENG 200, 300 or 400 courses.
