Explore Research Opportunities with Project Management Faculty

Students have the opportunity to serve as student fellows on research projects. In these experiences, students may be working one-on-one with a faculty member or may be part of a small team of student fellows who are also enrolled in a tailored course just for them. Research projects may focus on only one aspect of project management such as cost, time, or risk management and complex data collections and analyses may be involved. Alternatively, research projects may tackle the full spectrum of project management practices that allow students to integrate the new knowledge gained from serving as a student fellow into their growing project management knowledge base. Furthermore, research projects may span multiple organizational units within ASU as well as involve project management professional who work in corporations or not-for-profit organizations that we partner with. All of these research project arrangements afford Project Management students rich opportunities to practices their project management skills as well as expand their expertise. Past faculty research projects have addressed topics such as:

  • Using universal design for learning
  • Diversity and inclusion in the field of project management
  • How serving as a mentor for a junior project team member helps a person learn and practice leadership skills
