Dr. Jenn Pereira is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a state qualified supervisor, and a Registered Play Therapist and Play Therapy Supervisor. She also holds expertise in working with trauma, attachment issues, school based learning for children, and counseling modalities such as EMDR. Dr. Pereira has worked as a clinician in the field for 23 years, provides supervision for counselors seeking licensure and Play Therapy certification, and consultats with agencies and school districts. Dr. Pereira also spends a good deal of time working to train other clinicians in the field through various workshops and seminars.
Dr. Pereira is a Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of Master's Training, having worked in the Counseling and Counseling Psychology Unit for 7 years. Dr. P, as her studnets refer to her, is embedded in the clinical sequence, teaching the counseling skills courses and supervising in Practicum Clinic. Due to her clinical background and areas of interest, Dr. P also loves to teach elective courses such as: Counseling Children and Adolescents, Grief and Loss in Counseling, Trauma in Counsling, and Advanced Counseling Techniques.
Personally, Dr. Pereira loves staying active through competing in Triathalons - She has completed 2 140.6 distance (Ironman) races, numerous 70.3 distance (Half-Ironman) races, and somewhere in the ball park of 35 shorter distance races!
