Description
The concentration in food industry management and marketing allows both business and nonbusiness students the opportunity to acquire specialized business skills which will provide a competitive advantage for employment with firms and agencies that operate within the global food industry. Students will have a deep understanding of the business, economic and market environment of the global food industry, with particular emphasis on food marketing and distribution. The concentration explores the role that consumers' food choices and purchases play in the allocation of resources throughout the food chain from farm to retail.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • At least 9 credit hours of upper or lower division courses must be taken through the W.P. Carey School of Business.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.

AGB 250 Economics of Resource Allocation: Food and Agriculture (3) (Credit is allowed for only AGB 250 or AGB 294 (Economics of Resource Allocation))

AGB 302: International Management and Agribusiness (G) (Prerequisite(s): minimum 56 hours OR Visiting University Student)

Required Marketing Course (choose one) - 3 credit hours

MKT 300 Marketing and Business Performance (3) (Prerequisite(s): Non-Marketing W.P. Carey BA or BS or non-business major with minimum 2.50 ASU GPA and minimum 56 hours; ECN 211, 212, 213, or 214 with C or better. Credit is allowed for only MKT 300 or MKT 301 (Fundamentals of Marketing))
