Expand your career opportunities and enhance your expertise in health care systems by developing a comprehensive understanding of business, administration, leadership and policy within health care settings.

The health care policy and delivery concentration offers students a comprehensive overview of key principles in health systems, including management, economics and program oversight within health care settings.

The curriculum emphasizes the business of medicine, administration, leadership and policy. Students can choose to take an internship course to further apply and integrate these core concepts.

Program learning outcomes

Program learning outcomes identify what a student will learn or be able to do upon completion of their program. This program has the following program outcomes:

  • Implement effective management approaches to improve processes to positively impact patients and populations.
  • Analyze how policy and economics influence professional health service delivery

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper-division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of ā€œCā€ (2.00) or higher.
  • In order to enroll in HCD 402 and complete the concentration, students must first complete either ECN 212 or HCD 201.
  • Incompatible concentrations: Wellness Foundations, Nutrition and Healthy Living, Food and Nutrition Management, Human Nutrition
  • Note: Prerequisite courses may be needed in order to complete the requirements of this concentration.
