Description
The innovation in society concentration provides students with an understanding of how new and emerging technologies can connect with the social needs and values of our communities to provide the best possible local and global futures. The concentration is intended to equip students with tools and concepts from the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and engineering in order to prepare to build more inclusive futures. It will enable students to understand the broader context of their Interdisciplinary Studies major and help them to bridge these studies with other disciplines to develop more encompassing solutions to important problems.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.

Core - 9 credit hours

FIS 111 Welcome to the Future (3)
FIS 201 Innovation in Society, H (3)
FIS 307 Navigating Futures, SB (3) (Prerequisite(s): minimum 45 hours)

Upper Division Electives - 9 credit hours

Any FIS 300 or 400 level
