Application requirements
Now accepting applications for the 2026-27 graduate fellowship cohort.
All graduate fellowship application materials must be submitted by Monday, February 9, 2026.
Personal statement instructions
Your personal statement should not exceed 1,500 words, and address the following:
- How your background and experiences motivated you to pursue a graduate education.
- Description of how research aligns with the Growing Gardens, Growing Minds goals.
- Research objectives and methods.
- For current students, summary of preliminary data and research goals for fall 2026–spring 2027.
- How the fellows program will help you pursue a career in sustainable agriculture, food systems, urban ecosystems or natural resource management.
- Your interest in peer mentoring and engaging undergraduate students in science.
- Your commitment to the ASU Charter
- Expected graduation date
Note: Demonstrating commitment to the ASU Charter should be included throughout any of these topics within the personal statement.
Letters of support
The applicant must have 2 letters of support submitted to Growing Gardens, Growing Minds Fellowship leadership application in order to be eligible for the fellowship.
CV
Student CV should include:
- Relevant coursework
- Research or project experience
- Science communication such as manuscripts, oral or poster conference presentations
- Leadership or service
