Requirements
Description
Demand for statisticians is expected to grow 32% by 2031. Be prepared to apply your skills in nearly any industry you are passionate about.
The concentration in statistics is beneficial for students majoring in a variety of disciplines, such as the sciences, business, economics, engineering or any field where there is a need for quantification in the analysis of information.
Requirements
- Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
- A minimum of 6 upper-division hours must be taken in offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- STP 421 and STP 427 must be taken through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- All courses must be completed with a grade of āCā (2.00) or higher.
- Students may not pair the Statistics concentration with a Mathematics concentration.

MAT 271: Calculus with Analytic Geometry II (MA) or MAT 266: Calculus for Engineers II (MA) (3-4)
MAT 272: Calculus with Analytic Geometry III (MA) or MAT 267: Calculus for Engineers III (MA) (3-4)
STP 420: Introductory Applied Statistics (CS) (3)
STP 421: Probability (3)
STP 427: Mathematical Statistics (3)
STP 429: Applied Regression (CS) (3)
Prerequisite courses may be needed in order to complete the requirements of this minor.
