Requirements


Description
The concentration in environmental education is for traditional and nontraditional educators and is designed to establish standards for professional excellence in environmental education. Environmental education is taught in traditional classrooms and as community programs such as those at nature centers, museums, parks and zoos. The course work required in the concentration increases the environmental literacy of future educators, fosters community leadership strategies, and provides practice in environmental education teaching methods.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 15 credit hours including 12 of upper-division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.

SCN 207 Introduction to Biomimicry OR SCN 307 Biomimicry: Nature's Sustainable Solutions

SCN 208 Nature and Society: An Introduction to Environmental Studies OR SCN 308: Urban Environmental Education

SCN 300 Foundations of Environmental Education 

SCN 302 Environmental Education: A Global Perspective

SCN 310 Biodiversity Conservation: An Educational Inquiry
