Requirements
Description
A concentration in sociology from the Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics exposes students to the basic course work and issues within the discipline. This program provides an exceptional balance to studies in psychology, communication, education, and business.
Requirements
- Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
- All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
- Minimum 6 upper division hours must be taken in courses offered with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- M - Course transfer equivalent available from Maricopa County Community College District, details are provided on the Transfer Information tab.
Required Courses: 6 credit hours
SOC 101 Fundamentals of Sociology M (Required)
SOC 391 Research Methods OR SOC 483 History of Social Thought OR SOC 486 Contemporary Theory
Electives - 12 credit hours, with at least 9 hours of upper division hours to meet the Sociology 12 upper division hour requirement
Select in consultation with an advisor.
Any SOC 100, 200, 300 or 400 level class
IDS Core Course Information
All Interdisciplinary Studies students are required to complete a 9 credit-hour core and 9 credit hours of context/application courses.

- IDS 201 Intellectual Fusion (recommended for freshman/sophomore students)
- Prerequisites: None
OR
- IDS 301 Becoming Interdisciplinary (3) (recommended for transfer students and/or students declaring IDS in their junior or senior year)
- Prerequisites: Interdisciplinary Studies major
- Prerequisites: Interdisciplinary Studies major
- IDS 302 Integration Skills (3)
- Prerequisite(s): Interdisciplinary Studies major; IDS 201 or 301 with C or better
- IDS 401 Integration: Experiential Learning (3) (requires application)
- Prerequisites: IDS 201 or 301 with C or better; IDS 302 with C or better; minimum 2.00 GPA; minimum of two courses completed in each concentration area
- Prerequisites: IDS 201 or 301 with C or better; IDS 302 with C or better; minimum 2.00 GPA; minimum of two courses completed in each concentration area
