Applied Biological Sciences
Requirements
Description
The applied biological sciences concentration is designed for students who have strong interests in the life sciences and the interaction of these sciences with the ecosystem and human society within the ecosystem.
Mastery of fundamental biological principles is emphasized through quality learning in the classroom and hands-on activities in laboratories and in the living laboratories of the Sonoran desert and surrounding ecosystems (as well as the landscape of the greater Phoenix area). Activities include field trips, internships, laboratory work, faculty-guided research, and service-learning projects.
Requirements
- Students must complete a minimum of 23 credit hours including 12 upper division hours for this concentration.
- At least 9 hours must be upper-division courses offered by the Applied Biological Sciences program and selected with the approval of an advisor.

BIO 182 General Biology II, SQ (4) (Prerequisite(s): BIO 181 with C or better; Credit is allowed for only BIO 182 or BIO 281 or BIO 282)
ABS 270 Sustainable Biological Systems (3)
