Appointment times vary each semester. The CTC offers counseling services during regular semesters, including summer session. The appointment times vary each semester. For current availability, email us at [email protected].

Our fees are as follows:

  • Arizona college students: Free
  • ASU faculty and staff: $80 per semester
  • General community members: $100 per semester

Counselors are assigned to clients based on schedule availability. You are welcome to indicate particular criteria that you are looking for in a counselor, however, the CTC cannot guarantee accommodation of your request.

All counseling appointments, including initial appointments are 50 minutes. There may be exceptions.

The best time to schedule an appointment is two to three weeks before the start of each semester. Scheduling during this period gives counselors-in-training the greatest opportunity to complete the direct client contact hours required as part of their clinical training.

Additional appointments may become available during the semester if a current client’s schedule changes or services end. Availability also depends on the number of counselors-in-training assigned to the CTC each semester. When an appointment becomes available, CTC staff contact individuals on the waitlist whose stated availability matches the open time.

This depends. If you begin at the start of the semester, you may receive an entire semester’s worth of weekly counseling sessions. This varies by semester but can span between nine and 14 total weekly sessions. If you begin your services later in the semester or discontinue services before the end of the semester, the number of total sessions will decrease.

All of the counselors working in the CTC are graduate students completing the clinical practicum portion of either the Master of Counseling or Counseling Psychology PhD program at ASU. Once a student completes a semester of practicum in the CTC, they will move onto their next clinical experience. This means that your counselor will, more than likely, only work in the CTC for a total of one semester. If you are interested in receiving services in the CTC for more than one semester, you will be scheduled with a new counselor.

Please note: The CTC does not keep track of where previous practicum students continue their work and we cannot provide location information to any CTC counselor’s former client(s).

If you cannot attend your session, please notify CTC staff as soon as possible by emailing [email protected] or calling us at 480-965-5067.

The CTC makes every effort to be flexible with our cancellation policy, however, each student counselor-in-training is required to obtain a set number of direct client contact hours over the semester working in the CTC. Because of this, each client must make it a priority to attend all of their weekly sessions. Missed sessions on behalf of the client put the student counselor-in-training at risk of not obtaining sufficient hours. In addition, it is crucial to your treatment that you attend all of your counseling sessions. Therefore, any client who misses two or more sessions during one semester is at risk of losing their counseling appointment time slot. Missing two or more sessions will not result in an automatic termination of services; your counselor will consult with their supervisor to determine the best steps to handle your case. If you have missed too many sessions, you will receive communication from CTC staff regarding the cessation of your counseling services.
To prevent this from happening, please be sure to choose a counseling day and time that will work for your schedule every week over the semester.

At this time, counselors in the CTC only provide individual counseling to adults.

As counselors-in-training, each student counselor must be supervised by one of our program’s clinical faculty. Each student counselor is assigned a supervisor with whom they work over the semester. At your first session, you will be notified of your counselor’s supervisor’s name and credentials. Each counseling session must be recorded so that there is an experienced professional consulting on each client’s case and so your counselor and their supervisor may review the recordings of the counseling sessions in support of your treatment as well as the necessary training of your counselor.

Any videos are maintained on a secure server located in the CTC. At no point in time will your videos be put on the internet and/or used for any purpose besides supervision and counselor training.

We understand and will be happy to provide you with other resources, at your request.

Please note that while we make every effort to keep these policies and procedures up to date, the CTC reserves the right to make changes to these policies and procedures at any time and without notice to you.
