Requirements


Description
The food and nutrition management concentration is designed to provide students with an understanding of the food industry and the ability to apply nutrition principles to food production. Students will be able to manage and market food, along with the ability to develop a food or menu that meets a specific nutrition guideline.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • * Course prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241.

Core 18 Hours

NTR 100 Introductory Nutrition (3)

OR

NTR 241 Human Nutrition (3) (Prerequisite: CHM 101 or CHM 113)

NTR 142 Applied Food Principles (3) (students need to contact SNHP for an override (602-496-0888))

NTR 300: Computer Applications in Nutrition (3)*

OR

NTR 302 Digital Technologies in Nutrition (3) (Prerequisite(s): NTR 100 or 241; Credit is allowed for only NTR 302 or NTR 394 (Digital Technologies in Nutrition Communication) OR Visiting University Student)

NTR 343 Food Service Purchasing (3)*

NTR 344 Nutrition Services Management, L (3)

OR

NTR 360 Nutrition Entrepreneurship (Prerequisite(s): minimum 45 hours; Credit is allowed for only ENT 360 (MGT 360) or FSE 301 or NTR 360 OR Visiting University Student)

NTR 445 Management of Food Service Systems (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241; NTR 142 and NTR 343; credit for only NTR 545 or NTR 445)
