English (Literature)
Requirements
Description
Studying literature exposes you to new cultures and perspectives. It encourages you to consider your role within diverse peoples, places and ideas, and deepens your understanding of what it means to be human. The critical and analytical writing and comprehension skills you learn can enhance any major.
This concentration in English with a focus on literature emphasizes global literatures in English, from the earliest writings to the present. Students can choose from a broad array of courses to further explore subjects such as race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and literary histories and traditions.
Requirements
- Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper-division hours for this concentration.
- A minimum 6 upper-division hours must be taken in courses offered by Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- All courses must be completed with a grade of āCā (2.00) or higher.
- Internships (ENG 484) are encouraged; see English Internship Coordinator for more information. Students may select only one concentration from the Department of English for the Interdisciplinary Studies degree.
