Requirements


Description

The concentration in English provides students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to improve their writing and that enhance their ability to read and think analytically and become critical consumers of media.

This concentration is delivered entirely online.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • A minimum 6 upper division hours must be taken in courses offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • The remaining six credit hours may be completed with ENG 200-499 courses.

Core - 9 credit hours

ENG 211 Introduction to English Studies (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 305 Interpretive Theory (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 308 Form and History/Culture (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 309 Rhetoric for Writers (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 327 English Studies Research (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better)

ENG 489 Scholarly Products (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better; minimum 87 hours)

English Upper Division - 6 credit hours

Any ENG 300 or ENG 400 level courses.

English Electives - 3 credit hours

Any ENG 200, 300 or 400 courses.
