Description
The classroom experience for the student pursuing the concentration in justice studies is interdisciplinary, emphasizing ideas from the social sciences, philosophy, and legal studies. The concentration is designed for students interested in supplementing their other concentration area by studying justice issues. Students will develop an understanding of meanings of justice and injustice and analyze often controversial issues through critical inquiry and social science investigation.

Primary focus is placed on theories of justice in these principle areas:

Economic Justice
Social Justice, Law, and Society
Cultural Transformation and Justice

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • A minimum of 9 credit hours must be resident credit with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • No pass/fail or noncredit course work may be applied to the concentration.
  • M - Course transfer equivalent available from Maricopa County Community College District, details are provided on the Transfer Information tab.

JUS 303 Justice Theory (3) (Required) (Prerequisite(s): minimum 24 hours)

JUS 105 Introduction to Justice Studies (3) (Credit is allowed for only JUS 105 or 305)
OR JUS 305 Principles of Justice Studies (3)

 

Electives 12 Hours (6-9 Upper Division)
Select in consultation with a Justice Studies advisor.
CANNOT be from: JUS 105, JUS 303, JUS 305, JUS 301, JUS 302, JUS 492

Any JUS 100 course (NOT JUS 105)
Any JUS 200M course
Any JUS 300 course (NOT JUS 301 JUS 302, JUS 303, JUS 305)
