Somewhere in the Middle

Laurie Ralston MA in Narrative Studies capstone

The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Humanities and Communication invites the ASU community to the capstone defenswe by Laurie Ralston, who is completing the MA in Narrative Studies at ASU Polytechnic campus.

“Somewhere in the Middle” is a  collection of Ralston's short stories that tap into the lives of women as they deal with personal issues of love, memories, relationships and self-esteem. As she's written these stories, Ralston realized that they spring from a need to make sense of her own relationships with her parents, friends and partners, as well as to understand herself.

In her master's program, Ralston has focused on storytelling in written and media forms, literary history and critique, and mixing storytelling and academia in narrative research. She was a staff member on ASU’s literary magazine Superstition Review and a founding editor-in-chief of Unscripted, an online creative youth journal at ASU.
