Progressive Pedagogy: Classroom Management with Adult Learners

UNI Success faculty invite the Arizona State University community to attend its spring 2017 series of professional development workshops that draw from progressive pedagogical (ProPed) techniques, which are designed to support student success and retention.
Jennifer Miller, an instructor in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts and University College, presents the March 15 session: "Classroom Control: Do Adult Learners Really Need Active Management?"
This discussion will put a new spin on classroom management basics such as buy-in and rapport, seating arrangements, student inventories, and in-class strategies for handling disruption. The group will also discuss transparency; intrinsic responsibility vs. fear; and the efficacy of sarcasm, coercion and humiliation.
