Biography

Derar Serhan is an instructor in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts. His research interests include the following:

  • Exploring innovative instructional methods that foster active engagement in the classroom and improve students’ attitudes towards mathematics.  
  • Investigating the effects of the use of technology on students’ learning and attitudes toward mathematics.  
  • Investigating the use of technology and its effects on teachers and students in K-12 classrooms.  
  • Exploring innovative ways to apply research findings in the mathematics classroom.  
  • Professional development of preservice and in-service teachers of mathematics especially in regards to effective technology use in the math class.
