Description

How do travel and tourism affect communities and the environment in the long term? Be part of shaping this powerhouse industry to preserve natural and historical wonders --- and the communities that surround them --- well into the future.

Students can get innovative insights on finding practical solutions for a more ethical and eco-friendly approach to travel with a concentration in sustainable tourism. The program teaches basic concepts and theories of tourism development and management and helps students identify ways in which tourism can contribute to sustainable development, locally and globally.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours of graded classroom coursework (no internship, no independent study) including 12 credit hours of upper division courses.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00.
  • Students must be a junior to take 400-level courses.
  • M - Course transfer equivalent available from Maricopa County Community College District, details are provided on the Transfer Information tab.

TDM 372 Tourism Planning, L (3) (Prerequisites: Minimum 2.50 GPA; Minimum 45 hours; TDM 205 or RTM 373 with C or better; MAT 142 or higher with C or better)

TDM 458 International Tourism, G (3)

TDM 480 Sustainable Tourism (3) (Prerequisites: PRM 120 or TDM 205 or 60 minimum hours)

Electives - 6 credits

TDM 448 Heritage and Cultural Tourism (3) (Prerequisites: TDM 205 with C or better; Credit is allowed for only TDM 448 or CRD 598 Heritage and Cultural Tourism))
