Description

As the world continues to develop and urbanize, the demands and pressures on public lands and natural resources continue to grow. The concentration in parks and protected area management introduces students to the role of these community resources, with a focus on the unique issues faced by urban-proximate natural areas.

Understanding how to balance growing societies with natural resources is key to a sustainable future.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours which includes 12 upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00.

PRM 120 Leisure and the Quality of Life, SB (3)

PRM 380 Wilderness and Parks in America, SB & H (3)

TDM 480 Sustainable Tourism (3) (Prerequisites: PRM 120 or TDM 205 or 60 minimum hours)

Offered Fall Only:

PRM 370 Natural Resource Recreation Planning and Management (3) (Prerequisite: Must have completed 45 or more earned hours) 

Electives - 6 credit hours

CRD 301 Sustainable Communities (3) (Pre/Co-requisite: NLM 160 or PRM 120 (with C or better if completed); Credit is allowed for only CRD, NLM, PRM or TDM 301)

TDM 448 Heritage and Cultural Tourism (3) (Prerequisites: TDM 205 with C or better; Credit is allowed for only TDM 448 or CRD 598 Heritage and Cultural Tourism)
