Requirements


Description
Students pursuing a concentration in Italian gain an understanding of the language, literature and cultures of Italian speaking peoples and regions. There are opportunities to partake in study abroad programs, which can serve to enhance a student's experience and education. 

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours which includes 12 upper division hours for this concentration.
  • Students must complete a minimum of 6 ITA upper division hours offered by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • *Pre‐requisites: ITA 202 with a grade of C or better.
  • Course substitutions are allowed for heritage and advanced speakers of the language.  Consult an advisor in the School of International Letters and Cultures for details.

ITA 311 Italian Conversation, G (3)* OR ITA 312 Italian Composition, G (3)* OR ITA 319 Italian for Professions (3)*

ITA 414 French and Italian Popular Culture, (L or HU) & G (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better OR min 45 hours; Credit is allowed for only FRE 414 or FRE 494 (French & Italian Pop Culture) or ITA 414 or ITA 494 (French & Italian Pop Culture) or SLC 414 or SLC 494 (French & Italian Pop Culture))

ITA 420 Italian Cinema, L & G (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 101, 105, or 107 with C or better)

ITA 423 Italian Organized Crime in Films and History, (L or HU) & G (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105, or 108 with C or better or min 45 hours; Credit for only FMS 423 or ITA 423 or SLC 423 or ITA 494/SLC 494 (Italian Organized Crime in Films & History) or FMS 494/ITA 494/SLC 494 (Mafia & Film))

Elective courses should be chosen to fulfill the upper division requirements.  
Students may use a maximum of 6 credits from the 200‐level.
