Requirements

Description

Enhance your Interdisciplinary Studies major by developing a deeper understanding of the physical world, geographic regions and cultures. You can select your classes based on your unique interests in this customizable program.

The geography concentration, rooted in a foundation of cultural and physical geography, encourages students to explore intersections of place and space. Students gain a unique understanding of the modern world from both the local and global perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of how humans impact landscapes.

The concentration in geography enables students to be as broad or specific in their geographic education as they wish and helps make students stronger candidates for positions that require an understanding of the Earth's surface, including landforms, water, plants, weather and people --- and the interactions that take place among those elements. This understanding can be valuable in a variety of careers and fields, including:

  • business
  • city and urban planning
  • community outreach
  • government agencies
  • marketing
  • nonprofits
  • sustainability
  • tourism
