Description
A concentration in sociology from the Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics exposes students to the basic course work and issues within the discipline. This program provides an exceptional balance to studies in psychology, communication, education, and business.
Requirements
- Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
- All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
- Minimum 6 upper division hours must be taken in courses offered with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Core 6 Hours
SOC 101 Fundamentals of Sociology, SB (3) M (Required) (Credit is allowed for only SOC 101 or 301)
SOC 391 Research Methods, L or SB (3) (Prerequisites: SOC 101 (or SOC 301 or CDE 232) and SOC 390)
SOC 483 History of Social Thought, SB (3) (Prerequisite: Min 45 hours)
SOC 486 Contemporary Theory (3) (Prerequisites: SOC 101 or 301)
Electives 12 Hours, with at least 9 hours of upper division courses numbered 300 and above.
