Entrepreneurship and Innovation

Description
The entrepreneurship and innovation concentration is comprised of three university-wide core courses followed by two courses within a student's disciplinary college. Individual colleges will be encouraged to offer a capstone course as part of the program. Beyond topics related specifically to entrepreneurial business practices, courses include such topics as social entrepreneurship, arts entrepreneurship, idea generation and storytelling as additional perspectives for the student entrepreneur.

Requirements

• Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
• A minimum of 12 upper division hours must be taken from the W. P. Carey School of Business. 
• No more than 6 credit hours may be shared between concentration and other degree programs, minors, and/or other certificates.
• All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.

ENT 305 Principles of Entrepreneurship (3) (Prerequisite(s): minimum 2.50 GPA; minimum 30 hours)

ENT 340 Creativity and Innovation (L or HU) OR TEM 230: Creativity and Business Innovation (3) (Prerequisite(s): min 2.5 GPA; min 40 hours; Pre- or corequisite(s) ENT 290, ENT 305, or MGT 290)

ENT 360 Entrepreneurship and Value Creation OR TEM 400: Technology Entrepreneurship (3) (Prerequisite(s): minimum junior standing; minimum 2.50 GPA; Credit is allowed for only ENT 360 or FSE 301)

Concentration electives will be designated and approved by individual disciplinary colleges.

Prerequisite Information

ENT 340 Creativity and Innovation has prerequisite requirements of Business or Entrepreneurship & Innovation Certificate students: min 2.5 GPA, 40 hours, pre- or corequisite: ENT 305. Non-business students: min 2.50 GPA, 40 hours, pre- or corequisite: MGT 290 or ENT 290 or ENT 305.

ENT 360 Entrepreneurship and Value Creation has prerequisite requirements of Business undergraduate students with ACC 241 or 242 with C or better OR Engineering junior OR non-Business junior with minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.

Depending on a student's undergraduate program of study, prerequisite courses may be needed in order to complete the requirements of this concentration.
