Landscape Studies

Description
The concentration in landscape studies is designed for students who have an interest in landscape aesthetics. The course selection is intended to provide greater understanding of landscape issues that may be relevant in related professional disciplines and to broaden knowledge about the landscape in which we live.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • Students must maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher for Landscape Studies courses.
  • A minimum 6 upper division hours must be taken in courses offered by the Tempe campus.
  • * These courses require a petition to The Design School; see a Design School advisor for more information.
  • ** Course offered only in fall sessions.

LAP 485 International Field Studies in Landscape Architecture (1-6) (Prerequisite: Junior standing; Credit is allowed for only GCU 485 or GPH 485 or LAP 485 or POR 485 or PUP 485 or 585)

LAP 494 Special Topics (3)

LDE 494 Special Topics [*APP*LAND*ARCH*] Applied Landscape Architecture (Instructor consent is required)

LPH 394 Special Topics (3)

LPH 411 Landscape Architecture Theory and Criticism (3) (Prerequisites: Landscape Architecture; LDE 461 and LPH 311 with C or better; Co-requisites: LDE 462 and LTC 446)

All Interdisciplinary Studies students are required to complete a 12 credit hour core.

BIS 301, BIS 302 and BIS 402 courses require:

  • A meeting with your academic advisor to:
    Ensure both of your concentration areas have been declared
    Are working towards completing (or have completed) 1-2 courses in each declared concentration

  • One course meeting general studies MA requirement
  • ENG 102 or ENG 105 or ENG 108 or First Year Composition Completed
  • Minimum 2.00 GPA

     Prerequisite(s): BIS 301 with C or better; BIS 302 with C or better
