Description
The concentration in organizational leadership uses interdisciplinary methods that prepare students to become leaders in organizations. Students develop skills and knowledge that leaders need to solve problems, communicate effectively, assess programs, manage resources, and use emerging technologies in organizations. Students in the concentration will be prepared for a range of positions in government, health care administration, nonprofit agencies and the service industry. 

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.

Core 9 Hours Required
BIS 340 is taken two times

OGL 200 Introduction to Organizational Leadership (3)*

BIS 340 Organizational Skills (3) (students will enroll in two different topics to equal the required 6 hours) (Prerequisite(s): minimum junior standing or minimum 56 hours)

Electives 9 hours required
Choose from the following, 6 hours must be upper division.

BIS 343 Social Processes in Organizations (3), L or SB (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 or 105 or 108 with C or better; minimum junior standing or minimum 56 hours)

BIS 345 Organizational Ethics (3), L or HU (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 or 105 or 108 with C or better; minimum junior standing or minimum 56 hours)

BIS 357 Assessment in Organizations (3) (Prerequisite(s): MAT 117 (or any course with General Studies MA designation); minimum junior standing or minimum 56 hour)

BIS 360 Organizational Contexts (3), SB (Prerequisite(s): Minimum junior standing or minimum 56 hours)

OGL 220 Behavioral Dynamics in Organizations, L or SB (3)*

OGL 240 Introduction to Project Management (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102, 105 or 108 with C or better, Credit is allowed for only OGL 240 or OGL 320)*

OR

OGL 260 Resource Allocation in Organizations (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 (or ENG 105 or 108) with C or better; MAT 117 (or any course with General Studies MA designation))

OGL 300 Theory and Practice of Leadership (3) (Prerequisite(s): OGL 200; minimum 56 hours)

OGL 320 Foundations of Project Management (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 or 105 or 108 with C or better; minimum 56 hours; Credit is allowed for only OGL 240 or OGL 320)

OGL 321 Project Leadership, Strategy and Scope (3) (Prerequisite(s): OGL 240 or OGL 320; minimum 56 hours)

OGL 350 Diversity and Organizations, L & C (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 or 105 or 108 with C or better; minimum 56 hours. Credit is allowed for only BIS 350 or OGL 350)

OGL 355 Leading Organizational Innovation, L (3) (Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 or 105 or 108 with C or better; minimum 56 hours)

OGL 360 Assessment of Leadership Effectiveness (3) (Prerequisite(s): MAT 117 (or any course with General Studies MA designation); OGL 200; minimum 56 hours)
