Requirements


Description
The concentration in Islamic studies is designed to prepare students for graduate programs in religious studies, Islamic studies and area studies or for any academic discipline (such as professional programs in international law and business) that focuses on global Muslim society. Students wishing to add the concentration in Islamic Studies to their plan of study must consult with an academic advisor in the School of Historical, Philosophical & Religious Studies.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 26 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • *If you have credit in SGS 442 or AFS 480, you may not enroll in REL 461
  • ** Credit is allowed for only ASB, GCU, HST, POS, REL or SGS 240
  • Students wishing to add the concentration in Islamic Studies must consult with an academic advisor in the School of Historical, Philosophical & Religious Studies in order to create a cohesive and comprehensive program of study

Language 8 Hours Required

Eight credit hours of Arabic, Indonesian or another language approved by the program advisor; students who are native speakers of these languages or who otherwise have equivalent knowledge substitute two additional courses approved by the program advisor.
