Materials Science and Engineering

header-concentrations-2_03

Requirements

Description
The materials science and engineering concentration is designed to complement other science and engineering concentrations with an in-depth understanding of materials, including their structure, processing, properties and performance.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 20 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • Students need sophomore status and a minimum 3.00 GPA to enroll in the concentration in materials science and engineering.
  • Students must maintain a 2.50 GPA in all courses in the concentration.
  • To enhance the understanding of the subject matter, the selected courses are sequential in nature and require certain prerequisites. Consequently, students should carefully note the semester in which any of these courses are offered.
  • Interested students should consult with a SEMTE advisor to verify eligibility and to review all courses required for the concentration. To schedule an advising appointment, please contact the SEMTE advising office at http://engineering.asu.edu/semte/Advising.html.
  • * For courses that are restricted to Engineering BS/BSE students a BIS advisor can obtain an override with the Materials Science and Engineering advising program by emailing Mia Kroeger.
