Description
Students who choose the international geography concentration are able to enter the job market with a better understanding in GIS, meteorology, urban planning, travel and tourism, product marketing and others.

Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 19 credit hours which includes 12 upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.
  • A minimum 6 upper division hours must be taken in courses offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
  • Elective courses should be chosen in consultation with a Geography advisor in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning.

Part 1 – 7 Hours Required

GCU 121 World Geography, SB & G (4) (Required)

GCU 241 The Global Economy in Transition, SB & G (3) OR GCU 141 Introduction to Economic Geography (3)

Part 2 – 9 Hours (three courses)

GCU 323 Geography of Latin America, SB & G (3) (Pre-requisite: Minimum 45 hours)

GCU 325 Geography of Europe, SB & G (3)

GCU 328 Geography of Middle East and North Africa, SB & G (3)

GCU 332 Geography of Australia and Oceania, SB & G (3)

GCU 350 The Geography of World Crises, SB & G (3)

GCU 359 Cities of the World I, SB & G & H (3)

GCU 360 Cities of the World II, SB & G (3)

GCU 364 Energy in the Global Arena, SB & G (3)

Part 3 – 3 Hours (one course)

GCU 424 Geography of Mexico and Middle America, SB & G (3)
