Requirements


Description
The nutrition and healthy living concentration will provide a strong knowledge base in nutrition and healthy diet planning.

 This concentration does not meet the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) requirements, and thus does not qualify a student to apply for a Dietetic Internship.

 Requirements

  • Students must complete a minimum of 18 credit hours including 12 of upper division hours for this concentration.
  • All courses must be completed with a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher.

Core 12 Hours

NTR 241 Human Nutrition (3) (Prerequisite: CHM 101 or CHM 113)

NTR 340 Applications in Human Nutrition (3) (Prerequisite: BIO 201 and NTR 241)

NTR 341 Introduction to Planning Therapeutic Diets (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241)

OR 

NTR 345 Development of Healthy Cuisines (3) (Prerequisites: NTR 100 or 241; Credit is allowed for only NTR 341 or 345)

NTR 450 Nutrition in the Lifecycle (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241; Credit is allowed for only NTR 450 or 550)

Upper Division Electives 6 Hours Required

NTR 320 History of Nutrition (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241)

NTR 348 Cultural Aspects of Food (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241)

NTR 350 Nutrition Counseling (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 341 with C or better or NTR 345)

NTR 351 Nutrition and Health Communication (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 100 or NTR 241)

NTR 353 The Western Diet: Food, History, and Sustainability (3)

NTR 444 Medical Nutrition Therapy (3) (Prerequisite: NTR 341 or FON 341 with C or better OR enrolled in NTR 341; BIO 202; Credit is allowed for only NTR 444 or 544)

NTR 453 Nutrition and the Media (3)

NTR 457 Sports Nutrition (3)
